I heard the Call
I heard a call;
a call to serve.
I raked up excuses;
Where is the money to use?
Where is the skill to demonstrate?
Where are the people to help?
Where, what, when, why, who, how….
All with intention to hide
And take the easy popular road.
I heard the call
the call to serve.
No complain entertained; no excuse booked.
Go! He has given you all you need
Go! Use what you have
For how long will you slumber?
Can’t you see that Africa
Needs all the help you can muster?
I hear that call
that call to serve
that call for help
from the hearts of Liberia, Nigeria, Eriteria, Burundi, Somalia, Rwanda,Ethiopia…
from the boats of the rejected refugees
from the brains of the starving children-soldiers;
from the skulls of the skeletons of wars;
from the blood that flows in the shattered streets.
Why should I ever tarry awhile?
Why should I ever rest again?
